The inaugural Women’s Tour cycling event will take place in May 2014 over five days, two of which will be in Northamptonshire.

The ‘Grand Depart’ will be in Oundle on Wednesday 7th May with the stage finish later that day in the centre of Northampton. The following day the second stage will pass through Northamptonshire from Welford to Wollaston.  The event will be televised with a one hour highlights programme being shown at the end of each day.

Over 100 of the best female riders including past and current Olympic medallists and World Champions representing 17 trade and national teams will be competing to become the first ever Women’s Tour champion.

Anticipated entrants include GB riders, Laura Trott, Dani King, Joanna Rowsell , Lizzie Armistead and Northamptonshire’s own Hannah Barnes who will all be pitting their skills against multi World Champion, Marianne Voss,  considered by many to be the finest cyclist of her generation.

For businesses, the event presents an opportunity for Northamptonshire companies to engage with the tour, to benefit from the prospect of bespoke publicity and profile platforms and encourage employee involvement.

To this end, a Women’s Tour breakfast briefing has been arranged between 8.30am-10.00am on 4th February 2014 at Duston Leisure Centre. This will include a presentation together with a wider view of what the Women’s Tour will mean for local businesses and their employees.

If you’d like to register for the Women’s Tour Breakfast Briefing, contact Kerry Murphy at [email protected]  no later than 12 noon on Monday 3rd February.
