Today marks the start of a very exciting week in the history of motorsport in our county with Northamptonshire Grand Prix Week.
Between now and next Sunday 6th July, we’ll be keeping abreast of all that’s happening across the county to celebrate 50 years of the Grand Prix at Silverstone.
At the heart of the UK’s world-leading High Performance Technologies cluster with more than 1,000 companies including Cosworth, Mercedes AMG PETRONAS and Sahara Force India Formula One and home to globally renowned Silverstone, Rockingham Motor Speedway and Santa Pod, Northamptonshire has a formidable pedigree in motorsport.
So, it’s great to see so many thrilling events lined-up for the next eight days.
Today (Sunday 29th), look out for the chequered flags in Northampton town centre and take part in the Northampton Grand Prix Experience – a day of pit stop challenges, race simulation, motorsport themed arts and crafts and photo opportunities.
Drop in on Abington Street between 10.00am-4.00pm and power-up for a full-throttle family day out.

Other events throughout the week include a Silverstone 50th anniversary commemorative event at Silverstone Circuit, Drag Car Racing track days at Santa Pod Raceway, a race weekend at Rockingham Motor Speedway, the Kaiser Chiefs in concert and the 2014 Formula 1 Santander British Grand Prix at Silverstone on the weekend of 5th July.
